Loki travels to Mercer Island

Yesterday, the 7th, Loki attended the Rattie meetup at the dog park on Mercer Island. While Loki was somewhat overwhelmed by the quantity of black and white spotted dogs he did have a good time. I think he was able to pee on every thing there. He may not have to pee again for a week. Loki is beginning to come around and is playing with his foster siblings. Molly, our JRT, is giving him the front down/ tail up thing which gets him going. Loki seems to love to run and jump. He got a new squeeky to on Saturday too, it's not as loud as the blue one. Loki is the white dog with black spots (ha), red harness and blue bandana.

Chelan loves to lay in the SUN

Chelan sure is a sunshine girl. At Chelan's foster home there are 2 doors to the back yard AND a pet door. A french door off the kitchen and a door into the family room. First thing in the morning we open the french door so all the dogs can go in and out when they want. After a few minutes we always hear some scratching at the second door. It's CHELAN, at first we thought she just wanted in, but as soon as we let her in, she either goes back out the french door or the pet door and scratches on the door again. We finally figured out the she wants the door open. if we don't open it she will finally give up and lay down on the metal threshold and take a nap in the sun....FUNNY girl. This is all OK now that the weather is warm but when winter arrives we will have to work something else out.

Sweet Chelan is hiding

Meet Chelan...

Chelan is a very gentle 14 lb. tri colored rat terrier. She is long-legged with a cropped tail and is estimated to be 5 years old. Although she is a little underweight, she is working on her nutrition and gaining a lb. or two. Chelan came to us from a high kill shelter in California and was very timid at first but she is slowly learning to trust people. Chelan is not a cuddler but has learned it's ok to get in her foster dad's lap for attention and likes to lay next to him on the sofa. She is now showing what a happy little girl she can be when life is on her side. Her short tail wags constantly and although she seems happy will grumble softly. Chelan is fearful of men at first and will bark at them until she feels comfortable around them. She is learning to play and wrestle with her doggie brothers and sisters and runs to pick out stuffed toys on her own. She has favorite toys she carries around plays with. She loves to run and bark with her playmates. Chelan is very polite when you fix her food and will sit very still until she is fed. She will take food from your hands gently when given treats. Chelan is fully housetrained and will sit at the door when she needs to go out. Chelan is also crate trained and sleeps through the night without a peep but would love to cuddle under the covers if given the chance. Chelan is a very low-key, easy going dog that if given time and love will be a very special part of her person's life For more photos of Chelan please visit her online album atwww.imageevent.com/newrattitude/chelan
